LEARNING THROUGH REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE

MUSE Global Middle and High School Students are given the opportunity to explore our world through real life experience and adventure. Teamed with a peer group and advisor, students can select an immersive expedition or a service-based trip, exploring Human Rights issues each academic school year. Students are not limited to one travel experience, they have the ability to choose both options.

Trips are not included in yearly tuition, additional fees will incur. Families can estimate $2,000 – $3,000 per trip.

CULTURAL IMMERSIVE EXPEDITIONS

Students can choose Cultural Immersive Expeditions to expand their visual vocabulary. International Visual Art trips are created to introduce MUSE Global Students to various countries through cultural travel, exploration, art and food.

Tokyo, Japan
This eye-opening experience introduced students to the unique culture, cuisine and art in Japan. We explored amazing places like Studio Ghibli and had an exceptional and immersive experience at TeamLab digital exhibit. Among various adventures, students toured the Imperial Palace gardens and Senso Ji Temple (the oldest temple in Tokyo).

During our time in Tokyo, we stayed in a traditional residential house which was a great way for us to immerse ourselves in their beautiful culture.

Florence, Italy
Students enjoyed exploring the city that gave birth to the Renaissance in Europe with days that included trips to the Uffizi Gallery, Boboli Gardens, and the Galleria dell’Accademia. We stayed in a Tuscan village olive oil farm, went hiking and assisted with animals and harvesting.

SERVICE TRIPS

While students study specific social justice/human rights topics and look for ways to spread awareness and impact the lives of others on collaborative unit projects, the MUSE Global School Human Rights Program also offers international and domestic service learning opportunities.

Guatemala
High School students grades 10-12 have the opportunity to join the week-long Mending Kids trip to Guatemala where students work as non-medical volunteers to support the medical staff and patients at the Moore Pediatric Center in Guatemala City. Students help to prepare patients for surgery, support and comfort patients and families, work on projects for the hospitals, and observe the medical procedures. This trip also includes outreach initiatives to the communities surrounding the hospital and scheduled times to explore the history and culture of Guatemala.

South Dakota
The second opportunity for students is a trip to South Dakota to volunteer at the Cheyenne River Youth Project in Eagle Butte. Students organize games and projects with younger children, help to prepare meals and special celebrations, spend time with teenagers sharing life experiences and socializing, and work in the gardens readying the soil for planting season. Students also visit Custer State Park, The Badlands, and both MT. Rushmore and The Crazy Horse Monument as parts of this experience.

All students are encouraged to apply. Each international and domestic travel opportunity seeks to bring a team of students diverse in skills, perspectives, backgrounds, passions, and interests. Experiences like these often help students to gain confidence in themselves, acquire leadership and communication skills, and discover new passions and connections to core classes.
