A Long-Distance Learning Plan consists of work and activities designed by the teacher to ensure the student maintains academic progress while away from school. LDLPs require regular communication between teachers, students, and parents/guardians. Completion of the Long Distance Learning Plan will be recorded on the Blueprint.
Arranging a Long-Distance Learning Plan is a parent/guardian and student’s responsibility. Please review the calendar for our vacation dates and holidays, and understand that extended vacations are not recognized as excused absences. If you plan to be out of school, you may apply for a Long-Distance Learning Plan with the teacher and campus Director.
LDLP requires a meeting between the teacher and family to document and sign an agreed-upon plan of independent work for the student to complete while absent, that has been approved by the Director. The details regarding submissions of daily assignments, projects, and homework will be outlined. MUSE requires parents/guardians to be active and key participants in overseeing their student’s progress through the LDLP. We request that families notify MUSE two weeks before unavoidable travel that conflicts with the school schedule. If you do not give two weeks notice, your student will be marked absent and will be required to complete all missed work upon their return in order to receive credit and for attendance to be updated.
Long-Distance work will be submitted to the teacher(s) in person and/or via email/Canvas. Upon completion of the Long Distance work, the teacher will then change the student’s attendance status from absent to excused absence. If a parent/guardian does not arrange a Long-Distance Learning Plan or a student does not complete the required LDLP assignments within the agreed-upon time frame, the LDLP is null and void, and the student’s missed days will be marked as unexcused absences. Depending on the total amount of days absent, the student could be at risk of being denied promotion to the next grade level or denied course credit.
