The Mentorship Program

The MUSE Global® Mentorship Program places high school students in real-world learning internships built on THE FIVE PILLARS®, the MUSE Global educational framework.

MUSE Global partners with high schools to host student internships. A MUSE Global Mentor directs each intern’s work, and interns earn high school credit through their school.

HOW IT WORKS

1

PLACEMENT

Each intern is placed with MUSE Global through their high school.

2

LEARNING PLAN

The Mentor sets learning objectives with the intern and their school advisor in a Five Pillars Learning Plan.

3

REAL WORK

Six-hour internship days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, combining mentor-directed and self-directed work.

4

ASSESSMENT & CREDIT

A Five Pillars Mentor Assessment each trimester. The intern's school awards high school credit.

CURRENT PLACEMENT

BILINGUAL COMMUNITY PRINT SHOP

Social Enterprise & Print Production

Two high school interns operate a nonprofit, bilingual print shop. They learn current design and print production methods, run the shop as a functioning and profitable enterprise, and produce promotional work for small local businesses and nonprofits to increase demand for those organizations.

THE FIVE PILLARS® IN THIS PROGRAM

Every internship is designed, delivered and assessed through the five pillars of the MUSE Global framework.

PASSION-BASED LEARNING

The interns’ passion is social enterprise. The print shop is their passion project and the center of the internship.

ACADEMICS

Credit-bearing at the high school level. Job costing, pricing and profit tracking; production testing; research on community need.

SELF-EFFICACY

Grounded in entrepreneurship. Interns own operations, client relationships, quality and delivery, and set and review their own goals.

COMMUNICATION

Bilingual design and client work. Interns present through active sales and at a trimester exhibition attended by their Mentor.

SUSTAINABILITY

The shop prints on post-consumer recycled materials and turns excess cuttings into bookmarks donated to local libraries.
